Day 4: We Love Dan Rooney

This morning we had to meet at 7:45 this morning in the lobby to go to breakfast with Rosita Boland. She is a feature writer for the Irish Times. We attempted to talk to her during a class this past semester, but we had phone problems. It was nice to be able to meet her in person and learn a little more about her.

Next we had an appointment with Ambassador Rooney. It was awesome to be at the Embassy. He was so welcoming and so sweet to us. I think he really appreciated the fact that we were all from Pittsburgh. We also got to meet with the Director of Public Affairs and the Ambassador's press officer. It amazed me that the press officer is only 23 years old and he works at the Embassy! Dan Rooney gave us pins that have both the Irish and American flags on it. Maggie got a Steeler's pin for answering a question!

Afterwards we went back to Dublin City University for another lecture. We had about an hour and a half or two hours before it started, so we grabbed lunch in their cafeteria. We then met with Helena Sheehan for a talk on Irish TV Drama. She has written books on the subject and she was very knowledgable and interesting. I really enjoyed the lecture.

Tonight I went to dinner with a bunch of people at an Italian restaurant. It was amazingly yummy. We got talk to a couple local people tonight which was really neat. Everyone is super nice here and very willing to talk about anything. Tomorrow we don't have to meet until 1:15 so I get to sleep in! It will be nice to get a nice, long, refreshing sleep.
